Sri Sairam Institute of Technology, Chennai, established in the year 2008 by MJF. Ln. Leo Muthu, Chairman, is a non-profitable and non-minority insitution. The college boasts tremendous reputation by offering courses in Engineering and Management. This Institute has grown and made a name for itself among the top colleges in Tamil Nadu and India by delivering consistent results. The college offers quality education and helps students in nuturing and developing their talents to their highest potential.

Sri Sairam Institute of Technology (SSIT) is also known for organising many Faculty Development Programs (FDP) and Entrepreneurship Development Camps (EDC) for its faculty members and student. It has also organised an International Conference. SSIT jointly organised the popular annual sports meet in the year 2015 called the,"SAIRAM TIES 2015"

About Department.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering from the day of its inception in the year 2011 has been taking long strides in the field of science and engineering. The department has been started with the intake of 60 and subsequently was increased to 120 in the year 2012-2013. The department provides more sophisticated laboratory facilities and excellent infrastructure to the students. The department has well qualified dedicated and enthusiastic teaching and technical staff members.

The Department organizes a number of guest lecture and seminars by the faculties from reputed colleges such as IITs and Anna University, Chennai. The department also organizes conferences and insutrial visits to ICF, NLC, Ashok Leyland, IGCAR and Ennore Thermal Power Station every year.

The objective of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to high class education enabling the students to have the ability to decide, plan, administer and manage the latest technologies in the field of mechanical engineering to face the future challenges.
​
We at Sri Sairam Institute Of Technology shall strive hard to impart knowledge and state of the art training to our students. We also encourange them to practise their profession both at home and abroad and be instrumental in bringing about an overall technoligcal development to the nation.

The students of the department are actively participating in various national and international events. Some of the events are "BAJA", "e-BAJA" and "SUPRA" organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers, India (SAEINDIA). The management also encourages the students to widely participate in various conferences and engage their minds to contribute in the field of Research and Development.
